We caught two sturgeons!

This was the first and biggest one, the second one we caught was 4 foot 4. We forgot to measure this one, but it was 5 ft +

The mighty Fraser River in BC! We were north of the Golden Ears bridge, if you know the area.

no sir, I'm not familiar, but I just mapped it. How did the sturgeon fight? Looks like a hell of a catch!

Does BC have a slot limit like Washington does? I think ours is something like you can only keep them if they're between 38" and 54".

big fat sturgeon. They get pretty damn huge for sure. I have a friend that does underwater structural welding, and he says those things freak him right out. That and big catfish

There are no slot limits here.

In BC it's catch and release only.

This guy was still alive, and was put back in the water minutes after this photo was taken unharmed.

If your caught with a dead sturgeon in BC, may god have mercy on your soul.

I checked the convictions by fisheries and oceans over the last 12 months, there was no sturgeon convictions, but fines simply for using a barbed hook start at $250, and a forfeiture of gear.

I didn't reel him in, but according to the guy who did "it was like reeling in a school bus".

I just checked the regs here and it looks like it's catch and release here now too at least on the lower Columbia, coast and Puget Sound.

Kinja'd!!!

Looks like you'll need a bigger cutting board. Nice catch.
